The hermit tarot card meaning

The Hermit stands on a snow-covered peak of the mountain and looks down. He wears a gray hooded cloak. In his right hand he holds a lantern. In it is a six-pointed star. In his left hand he holds his staff.

On this map, man has climbed to the top of the mountain. Along the way, he has gained wisdom and insights through his experiences. The wisdom is expressed by the gray cloak and the insight by the six-pointed star in the lantern.
The Hermit has come this far because he has left everything behind. He no longer looks back to the past. This is represented by the hood. He makes use of his staff, his will, which gives him support. The top covered with snow represents pure spirituality and also indicates the "loneliness", which he undergoes (in a spiritual sense he is not lonely and alone).

The Hermit indicates two directions:
inner : self-knowledge and wisdom
external : an example, a guide

The latter is emphasized by the star in his lamp. In fact, the star is also a symbol of the Hermit as a teacher. When he stands still and turns around to let his light fall on those who follow him, he thereby indicates that all wisdom means nothing unless we turn around to pass on this wisdom.

The hermit symbolizes the human personality, which has acquired self-knowledge and has thus regained contact with itself. He is the inner knowing, the inner light.
