The moon tarot card meaning

In the middle of the two towers runs a path. Above it is a large sun with a crescent moon and a face.
A wolf and a dog are looking up. In the water is a lobster. Again, god sparks fall down.

At The Tower (16) the entrance to the soul was opened. The veil of consciousness opened (High Priestess - 2). At the Moon we try to look into the soul or see the soul (the star is your own light, your own consciousness. So the Moon, the mirror of the soul, with face wants to look into the star: i.e. look into your soul).

The Moon is one of the most difficult cards to interpret. The Moon represents the mirror of the soul and therefore this is a card of deep self-knowledge. The wolf and the dog, however, are the guardians of the soul. They represent the lower, the instinctive. They make sure, that you cannot just look inside yourself.

The towers are the final manifestation of dualism. They are the boundaries with the observable. The path symbolizes the journey into the depths of the feeling world.

We see the water with the lobster in the foreground. Water represents feeling and the moon has an influence on the water (the tides). This influence is invisible, yet unmistakably present. The moon not only rules over the tides, but also has its influence on air currents and on growth in nature. Man, too, is under the influence of the moon. But what is the moon really like? What does the Moon want to tell us? In reality, the moon has no light of its own, but reflects the light of the sun.

This means, that the moon is an unconscious aspect. The soul is also unconscious. The human being, whose consciousness depends on what is visible, can be carried away by moods, feelings and whatnot. The moon influences the human experience and especially the power of the full moon.

Just as the moon affects the subconscious, so this card speaks of experiences and feelings from the unconscious of the human personality. Hidden sides of our emotional world come to the surface. Hidden because they come from the shadows, from the dark. With these experiences and feelings you can go two ways:

1. you surrender to the darkness (after all, the moon is unconscious and without light) and let it rule over you. In this case, there is great unrest, emotionality, confusion, fantasy and self-deception. Superstition and fear also belong to the shadow side of the Moon.

2. you let the light of your consciousness shine into the darkness of the subconscious (the water) to get a correct and clear picture. In this case you do not allow yourself to be thrown off balance by the fluctuations of the mind, by the volatility of your feelings. You accept these fluctuations, the changeability and know that they are part of the eternal rhythm of life, just like ebb and flow, day and night, sunshine and rain, sun and moon ...

The light of consciousness is essentially your own inner light. It is the sun, the light of the spirit, that allows you to see the soul (Cancer). In astrology, Cancer is a water sign (a feeling sign). Cancer is in the water (feeling). Therefore, it is of utmost importance to keep the water as calm as possible and smooth as a mirror. Depending on the degree of light and the clarity of the water, you can look into the soul.

The Moon card therefore encourages you to become aware of the two sides of the Moon, the dark and the light. If you can face yourself in this way, with an open mind, then these experiences lead to growth, to deeper self-awareness and to deeper self-knowledge. With this you develop a clear awareness of the true nature of man and his existence. The Watcher (dog and wolf) will not let you pass until you are ripe for it (the Hell's Journey, where you meet all the demons.

The Moon symbolizes the unconscious in the human personality. It is a mirror card (if you see something in another person that you don't like, it says nothing about them, but about you).
